THE VARSHAVSKAYA STATION OF THE BIG CIRCLE LINE WILL BE MODIFIED TO FIT PASSENGERS WITH LIMITED MOBILITY

The reconstruction of the station is 65% complete

“Installation of a lift for people with limited mobility is being prepared in the west concourse of the Varshavskaya station. Once reconstructed, the station will become a part of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Metro”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.

“The Varshavskaya station of the former Kakhovskaya Line continues to be integrated into the BCL. The reconstruction also involves creating comfortable conditions for passengers,” said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, the reconstruction of the station is 65% complete.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that the utility systems at the Varshavskaya station have already been upgraded by a quarter. The architectural finishing is in progress, including cladding of the west concourse, the platform section, and the tunnel walls.

“When renovating the station, first opened in 1969, we are using cutting edge materials. The columns are decorated with dark marble at the station, and the tunnel walls are panelled with white marble. Historical decorative panels have already been placed along the tracks,” said Yuri Kravtsov.

Recall that a one-time launch of ten stations of the Big Circle Line: Terekhovo, Kuntsevskaya, Davydkovo, Aminyevskaya, Michurinsky Prospekt, Prospect Vernadskogo, Novatorskaya, Vorontsovskaya, Zyuzino, and Kakhovskaya, has become the largest one in the history of the Moscow Metro.
