The Vnukovo Airport station of the Solntsevskaya metro line extension section has completed the installation of equipment for the traction step-down substation (TSDS), according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“All transformers have been installed in the technical premises of the Vnukovo Airport station TSDS. The construction workers are now carrying out what is known as “tying”: connecting all the equipment with cabling and wiring products. Then a set of adjusting works is planned”, said Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
Deputy Mayor recalled that the traction step-down substation was the heart of the station complex, ensuring the operation of all its utilities.
“The TSDS premises are above the platform section of the station and the finishing work has been done. According to the operating technology for the substation, polymer floors have been laid in the premises, which have ensured an adequate level of dustlessness, water resistance and antistaticity”, added Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, informed that a total of 271 service and technical premises had been constructed at the Vnukovo Airport station, with finishing work having been completed in more than half of them. Design and decoration work is also being intensively carried out in the passenger area of the station.
“Along with the finishing work, the installation of other engineering equipment at the station is also in progress. In particular, ventilation, sewerage and water supply systems are being installed”, specified Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The head of the holding recalled that the design of the Vnukovo Airport station was dedicated to the work of the Tupolev Design Bureau. The “Tupolev Design Bureau civil aircraft and portraits of their creators” art composition digitally printed on aluminium panels is one of the major artistic elements.
Recall that the commissioning of the Solntsevskaya line new section, which includes the Pykhtino station, the Vnukovo Airport station and the metro bridge over the Likova River, will improve transport services in Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts (TiNAO) of Moscow, and Vnukovo will become the first airport in Russia with its own metro station.
Previously, Mr. Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, inspected the construction progress of the Vnukovo Airport station.
“The Solntsevskaya line is still under construction and will reach the Vnukovo station. It is 30 kilometres – one of the longest lines and unique in Moscow, because Moscow citizens will have a great highway from the centre to the Vnukovo Airport, an excellent accessibility from the City station to the Vnukovo station, with 40 minutes guaranteed to get directly to the airport terminal from this station. The settlement of Vnukovskoye and neighbouring settlements will get a metro access within walking distance, which is very important for improving the transport situation in the area”, stated Mr. Sergei Sobyanin.
