The tunnel-boring machine ‘Esmina’ drove 756 meters
“Tunnel driving in the course of construction of the line connecting the Aminyevskoye electric depot and the Big Circle Line (BCL) was completed”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is the operator of the Moscow Metro development programme.
“The tunnel boring machine ‘Esmina’ completed the tunnel-driving activities by passing 756 meters between the starting point at the Aminyevskaya station of the Big Circle Line up to the Aminyevskoye electric depot under construction”, said Andrey Bochkarev.
According to him, previously the TBM ‘Esmina’ drove one of the main line tunnels connecting the Khoroshyovskaya and Narodnoye Opolcheniye stations of the BCL western section with its length reaching somewhat 1780 meters.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, added that the tunnel driving was accomplished at the full depth of about 16 meters in soils comprising sandy loams with the layers of fine water-saturated sand, as well as stiff loams.
“At that point, the construction of the line is not over. We still have to develop two other tracks running to the depot from the interchange chamber of the Davydkovo station, including the construction of an above-ground flyover”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
The General Director added, that further on, once the construction of the Aminyevskoye electric depot is completed, it will service the rolling stock of the Big Circle Line along with the Zamoskvoretskoe and Nizhegorodskoe depots.
The Big Circle is the flagship and most large-scale project of the capital’s metro construction. There will be 31 stations on the 70 km-long line, 22 of which are already servicing to passengers. The BCL will become the longest underground circle line in the world.
