TUNNEL DRIVING FROM PYKHTINO TO RASSKAZOVKA IS COMPLETED 1.5 MONTHS EARLIER

The tunnel boring machine went underground for more than two kilometres

“A month and a half ahead of the schedule, the excavation of the right running tunnel between the Pykhtino station under construction and the existing Rasskazovka station on the Solntsevskaya line of the Moscow Metro was completed. The work was done by the tunnel boring machine (TBM) ‘Natalia'”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.

Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to build the new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.

“The six-metre ‘Natalia’ went underground for more than two kilometres within the zone of impact from highways and utilities. In order to control the performance parameters of the TBM, the specialists carried out round-the-clock duty, and the geodetic survey was implemented to monitor the soil surface”, said Andrey Bochkarev.

According to him, previously, the TBM “Natalia” was used to drive three tunnels in the south of the Big Metro Circle, and linked the stations of Ramenki and Michurinsky Prospekt on the yellow line by tunnels, as well as Rasskazovka and Novoperedelkino.

Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, explained that the tunnel from Pykhtino to Rasskazovka was built in the soils featuring constraint hydro-geological conditions.

“Tunnel driving was carried out through low-plasticity loams, water-saturated sands and in semi-hard clays, with inter-layers of low-plasticity under the Borovskoye Highway, the overpass road, a treatment facilities tank, an operating gas station, and under the forest belt of the Rasskazovka park as well”, specified the Head of the holding.

He also added, that both stations of the new section of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line, Pykhtino and Vnukovo, are being under active construction. The future Pykhtino station is already completed by one-third, with the earthworks being almost accomplished there, and the cast-in-situ work done by two-thirds.

“At the Vnukovo station, all types of activities are being carried out, and installation of the enclosing structures is already completed, overall construction completion is estimated at 16%”, added Yuri Kravtsov.

The length of the new section of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line from Rasskazovka to Vnukovo will reach somewhat 5 km, its commissioning will improve the transport accessibility for Troitsky and Novomoskovky Districts of Moscow (TiNAO).

Earlier today, Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow, took part in the ceremony devoted to completion of the right running tunnel between the stations of Pykhtino and Rasskazovka on the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya metro line.

“Construction of the Solntsevskaya metro line continues. We completed the tunnel driving activities from the Rasskazovka to the Pykhtino stations, the last shield. And then we went from Pykhtino to Vnukovo. I hope that this year they will go the entire way, so that in 2023 the residents of Moscow will welcome the Vnukovo metro station. This will be the first metro line in our country to reach an airport”, said Sergei Sobyanin.
