The section is 43% complete
“Tunnelling of the Solntsevskaya Line between the Pykhtino and Vnukovo stations under construction is 52% complete”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“The six-metre ‘Rosa’ tunnel boring machine has tunnelled more than 900 metres of the left running tunnel and the ‘Natalya’ shield, working next door, has covered around 170 metres”, said the Deputy Mayor.
According to him, in-situ concreting is underway at both stations of the section.
“The overall construction readiness of the entire section is estimated at 43%. At the Pykhtino station, finishing of the service premises is underway, and at the Vnukovo station, excavation and excavation bracing work are being completed”, added Andrey Bochkarev.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, reminded that the metro bridge over the Likova River is also under construction between the stations. It is three-quarters complete.
“15% of the metal ties of the covered bridge have been installed, the crushed stone for the track superstructure has also been laid, and the sleepers and then the rails will be installed shortly”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.
The head of Mosinzhproekt specified that the metro bridge between the Pykhtino and Vnukovo stations under construction will be the twelfth in Moscow and the second longest after the Luzhnetsky metro bridge over the Moskva River.
The commissioning of the new section of the Solntsevskaya Line will improve the transport accessibility to the Troitsky and Novomoskovky Districts of Moscow (TiNAO), and Vnukovo will become the first airport in Russia with its own metro station. More than 50 thousand passengers are expected to use the new section on a daily basis.
