“The tunnelling of the first tunnel of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line has been completed”, said Sergei Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow.
Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“This year we are completing all major works on the Big Circle Line of the Moscow Metro. This means that there is an opportunity to build new radial metro lines, which will join the Big Circle Line. These are primarily the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line, Biryulyovskaya Line and Troitskaya Line of the Moscow Metro. The Troitskaya Line is under active construction, Biryulyovskaya is in the design stage, we have started the active work phase at the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line: tunnelling of the first tunnel from Zvenigorodka to Narodnoye Opolcheniye is complete”, said Sergei Sobyanin.
Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction, briefed on the details of the tunnelling of the first tunnel of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line which is currently under construction.
“The ‘Natalie’ tunnel boring machine has tunnelled through the left running tunnel of about 1750 metres from the Narodnoye Opolcheniye station under construction to the prospective Zvenigorodskaya station, completing the first tunnelling of the prospective Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.
The head of the Construction Complex added that the work was carried out at depths of 12 to 35 metres in water-filled fine and intermediate size sand, loam and clay.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, specified that ‘Natalie’ passed over the operating tunnels of the Big Circle Line (BCL) from Khoroshyovskaya to Narodnoye Opolcheniye, under Zvenigorodskoye Shosse and the overfly with the exit to Mnyovniki Street.
“The tunnel construction was carried out in the dense urban development of the Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki area on the section from the intersection of Demian Bedny Street with Prospekt Marshala Zhukova to 1-st Silikatny Proyezd”, specified Yuri Kravtsov.
According to the head of the engineering holding, this TBM was previously used for the tunneling on the BCL tunnels between CSKA and Khoroshyovskaya, as well as Delovoy Tsentr and Shelepikha.
“Construction of the adjacent right tunnel is going on at the same time, with the ‘Victoria’ TBM covering 91% of the planned route”, recalled Yuri Kravtsov.
The first section of the 12.6 km long Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line, which is currently under construction, with six new stations, will link the dynamically developing area in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye with the Big Circle Line stations. Its commissioning will provide transport services for the new development in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and improve accessibility to the districts of Mitino, Strogino and Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki.
