The first section of the line includes six new stations
“Tunnelling is underway on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line of the Moscow Metro”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Engineering Holding is a general designer and general contractor to construct new lines and stations of the Moscow metro.
“The ‘Natalie’ shield is constructing the left running tunnel between the future Karamyshevskaya and Zvenigorodskaya stations, the adjacent right tunnel is being built by the ‘Victoria’ shield. During the construction, the shields will go over the tunnels of the Big Circle Line from the Khoroshyovskaya to the Narodnoye Opolcheniye stations, under the Zvenigorodskoye Highway and the exit flyover on the Mnyovniki Street, as well as near Alexander Nevsky Church”, said Andrey Bochkarev.
According to the head of the Construction Complex, the overall length of each of the tunnels exceeds 1.7 km.
According to Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, the work is being carried out under infrastructure facilities on the north-west of Moscow at a depth of 12 to 35 metres in water-saturated fine and medium sand, loam and clay.
“Previously, the ‘Natalie’ and ‘Victoria’ shields were involved in the construction of the tunnels of the first start-up BCL section between CSKA, Khoroshyovskaya, Shelepikha and Delovoy Tsentr stations”, added Yuri Kravtsov.
The construction of the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya Line, which is more than 12.6 km long, including six new stations, will link the dynamically developing area of Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye with the Big Circle Line stations. Its commissioning will provide transport services for the new development in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and improve accessibility to the districts of Mitino, Strogino and Khoroshyovo-Mnyovniki.
