“Two multifunctional sports grounds are being arranged as part of the landscaping of the area near the Sokolniki station on the north-eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the Moscow Metro”, said Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow on Urban Planning and Construction.
Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general designer and general contractor to build new lines and stations of the Moscow Metro.
“Two sports grounds, 32 metres by 19 metres each, are intended for multiple kinds of sports – basketball, volleyball and street workout. They will be fenced with white mesh, and the surface will be made of orange and yellow crump rubber”, informed Andrey Bochkarev.
According to the head of the Construction Complex, the grounds are located on Gastello Street and Popov Proezd.
Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC, said that both sports grounds would be equipped with street workout zones.
“In particular, parallel bars, horizontal bars, wall bars and incline benches will be installed. A table tennis zone will be arranged at the sports ground, located on Gastello Street”, said Yuri Kravtsov.
The head of the engineering holding recalled that the area of about 40,000 square metres adjacent to the Sokolniki station of the Big Circle Line under construction, was being landscaped. There will be a linden alley with flowerbeds and benches arranged from the exit from the metro up to Sokolniki Park.
In addition to Sokolniki, the northeastern BCL section includes the Rizhskaya and Maryina Roshcha stations under construction, a connecting line to the Nizhegoroskoye electric depot, and the already built Aviamotornaya, Lefortovo and Elektrozavodskaya stations, temporarily operating as part of the Nekrasovskaya line.
