The tunnel-type underpass under the existing railway tracks of the Paveletsky suburban railway line is estimated to be two-thirds complete, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general contractor and general designer of a number of sections of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter.
“The construction of the cast-in-situ structures of the two underpass tunnels on the southern section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD), from the Paveletsky suburban railway line to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, continues. The construction is being carried out in four stages. The in-situ concreting of the first stage of the closed underpass section under the railway tracks has already been completed. Meanwhile, the supporting structures are being installed within the second and fourth stages”, noted Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Deputy Mayor, the main construction work on the underpass is scheduled to be completed by the year-end. Next year, the interior decoration and installation of utilities will be carried out. The total length of the artificial structure will be 46 metres.
According to Mr. Konstantin Maslakov, Director General of MIPSTROY 1 (the leading construction division of the Mosinzhproekt GC), the open part of the underpass, which will connect the section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter with the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, has been completed in full.
“The main structures of the left and right tunnels in the open part of the underpass are completed. In the closed part, work is carried out directly under the operating railway tracks. We have completed the trough part of the tunnels. We are carrying out the reinforcement of walls, and planning to start the subsequent reinforcement of floors.
In addition, the base has already been prepared for further laying of the bituminous concrete pavement of the future highway”, informed Mr. Konstantin Maslakov.
The head of MIPSTROY 1 also added that the high-strength reinforcement was used to reinforce the main underpass structures, which was usually applied on bridge construction.
As part of the construction of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter southern section, which will run from the Paveletsky suburban railway line tracks to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, it is planned to construct more than 10 kilometres of roads, including the street and road network adjacent to the southern MSD section, as well as a number of artificial structures.
The Moscow High-Speed Diameter will improve transport services for 48 districts with over 5 million citizens.
