Work on the utilities reconstruction is nearing completion on the fourth section of the Southern Rockade from Maryinsky Park Street to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, according to Mr. Andrey Bochkarev, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning and Construction.
The Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is a general contractor and general designer of a number of the Southern Rockade sections.
“On the Southern Rockade section from Maryinsky Park Street to the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, the reconstruction of the rainwater drainage system, heating system and cable lines is nearly complete. Reinforced concrete fire walls with a total length of 1.6 km are being built along the entire section”, said Mr. Andrey Bochkarev.
According to Deputy Mayor, 3 kilometres of roads are to be built and reconstructed on this section of the Southern Rockade.
Mr. Yuri Kravtsov, CEO, Mosinzhproekt JSC, stressed that the site was currently undergoing work to widen the Verkhniye Polya Street roadway.
“A six-lane, 165-metre-long road from Maryinsky Park Street towards Verkhniye Polya Street has already been put into operation, and an underground pedestrian crossing equipped with four lifts for people with limited mobility has also been opened. The overall readiness of the section is estimated at 60%”, specified Mr. Yuri Kravtsov.
The head of the holding added that it was planned to install ground transport stop pavilions and reconstruct a passageway with a U-turn for buses on Verkhniye Polya Street.
Recall that the Mosinzhproekt Group of Companies is working on three sections within the Southern Rockade project: the construction of the street and road network from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane, the reconstruction of Verkhniye Polya Street from the Moscow Automobile Ring Road to Maryinsky Park Street and the reconstruction of Donetskaya Street from Podolskaya Street to Kuryanovskaya Embankment.
The Southern Rockade is part of the new transport framework of Moscow, along with the Moscow Speed Diameter and the North-Western Chord. The Rockade will connect the city’s major motorways: the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, Kutuzovsky avenue, Michurinsky avenue, Vernadskogo avenue, Leninsky avenue, Profsoyuznaya Street, Varshavskoye highway, Proletarsky avenue, Kashirskoye highway, and Lyublinskaya Street.
