  • Mosinzhproekt acted as the managing company for the reconstruction of the Luzhniki Big Sports Arena (BSA), the central stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The reconstruction of the stadium was completed in accordance with FIFA requirements and with preservation of the historical facade. As a result, the arena area increased to 221,000 sqm and the number of seats with different comfort levels increased from 78,000 to 81,000; the pitch angle of the stands was changed to provide spectators with a 100 percent view of the field. The overhanging roof was extended by 14 meters to protect the spectators from precipitation.

The stadium also received natural turf with heating and drainage systems. 35 km of cables laid under the turf ensure its full recovery after matches.

The color of the seats — burgundy with golden specks — was chosen in a popular vote within the Active Citizen project. At the upper level of the stadium there is an all-round observation deck.

The BSA roof was turned into a 39,000 sqm digital screen. The light and sound systems can function in both sports and concert formats.

To ensure safety and change logistics, the width of the exits from the stands was increased and 44 new cascading staircases were constructed around the perimeter. Modern video surveillance, firefighting and anti-terrorist systems were installed at the stadium.
